RINGS | MILIEU

The rings in Milieu are a feature of the body of work that culminated in the award of my PhD. Their essence speaks of my ongoing research and interest into the materiality of objects and environments and their impact on people. I do so not only through material investigations, but also by examining the way in which we engage with our built and natural environments through the senses, and the role these encounters have on our memories.

RINGS | VALS

VALS - this small village of Switzerland has long been known for its natural spring and quarry. Originally used as roof tiles for local houses, the Vals quartzite gained worldwide interest following the design of Therme Vals Baths (1996) by internationally renowned Swiss Architect Peter Zumthor.

RINGS | ARCHETYPE

The rings featured under Archetype are part of the original body of work that instigated my interest in drawing relationships between the fields of architecture and jewellery.  The purpose of these disciplines is to provide people with a platform for lived experiences. Despite their opposing scale, these disciplines share a proximity by placing the  human body as a whole entity - body and mind- at the centre of their creative and utilitarian concerns. These early works are made from materials best known for their engineering capacities and combine craft making knowledge with digital technologies to showcase a unique architectonic aesthetic.
